From its inception, AEW has strived to position itself as an alternative to WWE, with the company using their fair amount of profanity and bloodshed on broadcasts in order to present a different product to the more family friendly WWE.

Many have taken issue with AEW’s blood policy, with AEW’s TV output increasingly featuring some amount of claret, with Jon Moxley in particular keen to get the blood flowing.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash is the latest to give his thoughts on AEW’s often gory product, saying the following on the Kliq This podcast:

“I think that what you do when you allow that much blood and that much [of a] spotfest, you paint yourself into a certain demographic that’s going to watch that program. They haven’t grown that audience, and there’s a reason why there not growing the audience while in the meantime, WWE is doing some nice ratings. I know, I’m a homer. I’m a WWE guy, I’m blowing everybody, get my legends deal," Nash said, referencing AEW’s recent blood spattered Blood & Guts III match.

Long-time fans will recall the bloodbaths promoted by the NWA in the 1980s, and by WWE during the vaunted Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era.
