Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Wish Super Dragon Had Been At WWE WrestleMania 39

The new WWE tag champs paid tribute to the PWG co-founder

WrestleMania Saturday was a special night for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, who realised a childhood dream by winning the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles on the Grandest Stage.

It was especially poignant due to the show taking place in Los Angeles. It was the LA-based independent Pro Wrestling Guerrilla promotion that gave Owens and Zayn one of their first breaks in the United States and the two men paid tribute to PWG by featuring the company's logo on their ring gear for their bout with The Usos.

Speaking to Airel Helwani for BT Sport immediately following the match, Zayn and Owens both stated how they wished former PWG star and the promotion's co-owner Super Dragon could be there.

"We actually said in the ring, 'God, I wish Super Dragon was here'. He couldn't be here," Zayn shared.

Owens added that Super Dragon had wanted to attend, but couldn't due to personal reasons. KO did make sure that Super Dragon knew how much he meant to them, saying:

"I texted him right before I went out, and sent him a picture of my gear...We really wouldn't have gotten here without him. I don't know how else to put it. He became a big brother to us right from the get-go when he took a chance on us".

Owens and Zayn spoke further about Super Dragon and PWG's influence during the post-WrestleMania press conference.
