Konnan Claims There Are Issues Between Santana & Ortiz

Santana & Ortiz allegedly not on the same page

The Proud and Powerful’s Santana is out of action with a knee injury, and reports have suggested that the former IMPACT World Tag Team Champion could be set to leave AEWwhen his deal expires sometime in September.

News of Santana’s potential exit also prompted rumours that he and tag partner Ortiz are not seeing eye-to-eye, and former manager Konnan has suggested as much on the Keepin’ it 100 podcast:

“Yes," Konnan said when asked if he had any insight, “they are not on good terms.”

Konnan refused to elaborate, and whilst it is not much to go on, the Mexican legend has worked closely with the team for many years.

Rumours of a rift circulated after it was pointed out that the two do not stand next to each other on AEW TV, and haven’t wrestled a traditional two-on-two tag match since February 2022.

Sanatana and Ortiz have teamed together since 2012, holding the GFW Tag Titles once, and the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships on four occasions, amongst other accolades. Since debuting for AEW at All out 2019, the pair have been heavily featured, as part of the Inner Circle, then later teaming with Eddie Kingston to fight against Chris Jericho and the JAS.
