Konnan Confirms Why Dragon Lee Was Hesitant To Sign With AEW

Dragon Lee recently signed with WWE instead of AEW, and Konnan has revealed why

WWE ended 2022 with a bang, with the announcement that they had signed lucha star Dragon Lee to a deal, with the former ROH roster member set to report to NXT this month.

WWE’s gain was seen by many as AEW’s loss, with Lee having appeared for Tony Khan's promotion in August, teaming with brother RUSH and Andrade el Idolo. According to AAA’s Konnan though, Dragon Lee was hesitant about AEW’s overtures, saying the following on the Keepin’ it 100 podcast:

“He just asked me questions and I just gave him advice. I didn't give him advice on where to sign. He did bring up the fact, and Bandido was in the same dilemma, he wasn't sure whether to go to WWE or AEW, but Dragon Lee was more like, 'there are so many people there, I'm just going to get stuck in the f******… I'm just going to go to WWE.'

"He will blow everybody away. I don't see them all (in WWE) and I don't see it every week, but the last time I watched, which was maybe two or three months ago, there is nobody on his level there (in NXT)," stated Konnan.

Lee recently won the AAA World Tag Team Championships with brother Dralistico, and is the fourth wrestler in history to have held championship gold in NJPW, ROH, and CMLL.
