Dragon Lee Signs With WWE

Dragon Lee is WWE bound

A rising star in professional wrestling has signed with WWE NXT.

Following his and Dralistico's win over FTR to capture the AAA World Tag Team Titles on December 28, Dragon Lee announced that he has signed a deal with WWE. The new team then immediately vacated the belts they had just won.

Lee told ESPN that he will start with WWE in January. The 27-year-old will be a part of NXT, with Triple H tweeting: "An unbelievable athlete who has collected accolades and held championships across the globe...and he's just getting started. The next chapter of @dragonlee95's career begins with @WWENXT!"

WWE Head of Talent Strategy and Operations James Kimball said to ESPN: "Dragon Lee is a tremendous talent that will immediately add value to the NXT roster. This signing is reflective of WWE's renewed emphasis on globalising our talent pipeline with Latin America positioned as a focal market."

Lee has big plans for his WWE run, admitting he thinks he can be the next Rey Mysterio.

WWE's signing of Lee has been in the works for the past several months, with The Cubs Fan reporting that WWE reached out about a tryout following Lee's match on the August 17 edition of AEW Dynamite. Lee was then brought in for a second tryout and was offered a WWE deal.

The luchador noted to ESPN that Finn Balor reaching out began the process of him signing with WWE. Lee put pen to paper on a WWE contract in early December.

Lee has been wrestling since 2014, first in CMLL. In recent years, he has competed for the likes of AAA, Ring of Honor, and NJPW. He comes from a wrestling family and his brothers Rush and Dralistico currently perform in AEW.
