Kurt Angle Hails AJ Styles As 'Most Well-Versed Wrestler' He's Ever Faced

Kurt Angle heaped praise on one of his favourite opponents, AJ Styles

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle had the opportunity to wrestle countless legends over the course of his long and illustrious career, having classic matches with the likes of Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Brock Lesnar, Eddie Guerrero, The Undertaker and others.

Of all the men he has stepped into the ring with, however, it was two wrestlers from TNA - AJ Styles and Samoa Joe - that the Olympic gold medallist considers his favourite opponents.

Asked to pick a favourite match with them during a recent Q&A session for AdFreeShows, Angle said:

"It's hard for me to pinpoint one, but almost every match I had with AJ Styles, to be honest with you. Him and Samoa Joe were my two favourites to work with and every match I had with both of them was priceless.

"I would say probably with AJ, it would be our Last Man Standing Match [at TNA Hard Justice 2008]. I think that's my favourite match with AJ and that wasn't as much of a wrestling match as we had with other matches," revealed Angle.

Angle continued to sing the praises of The Phenomenal One, saying:

"AJ is such a great talent. It's so easy working with him because he just kind of flies around and you catch him. He just makes the matches exciting. Reminds me a lot of a bigger Rey Mysterio. AJ can work a heavyweight style. He can also work Lucha Libre style. He is the most well-versed wrestler I've ever been in the ring with."

The 55-year-old is still under contract with WWE and believes he may do something at either Royal Rumble or WrestleMania XL.
