Kurt Angle Reveals His Favourite Iteration Of His WWE Character

"That’s who I am, and that’s what I was."

Kurt Angle has revealed his 'Wrestling Machine' character was his favourite character in WWE.

The 'Wrestling Machine' was the final version of Kurt Angle portrayed in WWE in his first run with the company, with Angle taking the portrayal to the next level when he was moved to WWE ECW in 2006.

The Olympic Gold Medallist believes the character played into what he wanted to do in matches anyway, which was perform technically and bill himself as the best wrestler in the world. Due to that, he preferred this iteration of Kurt Angle over the 'Olympic Hero'.

Speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, he said: "The ‘Wrestling Machine’ was my favourite character. I actually liked it better than my Olympic Hero character where I did a lot of comedy and was kind of corny and an idiot. I really enjoyed doing that stuff, but the Wrestling Machine was more me. That’s who I am, and that’s what I was.

"I enjoyed doing it and I loved performing in those matches because it was all technical. That was what I was all about. I wanted to portray myself as a wrestler in the ring that was the best wrestler in the world. I think I did a pretty good job with that, and that's what my ECW character was about."
