Kurt Angle 'Totally Regrets' Controversial WWE Storyline

Angle wishes the infamous 2005 storyline didn't exist

Kurt Angle engaged in many legendary rivalries during his long and illustrious career, but there is one he had with a fellow WWE Hall of Famer that he wishes wouldn't have unfolded the way it did.

One of the most controversial storylines of Angle's career took place on SmackDown in 2005, when the Olympic gold medallist began an unhealthy obsession with Booker T's wife Sharmell.

Discussing his issues with the storyline during a recent episode of his The Kurt Angle Show podcast, the 54-year-old said:

"I totally regret it. I didn't want any part of it. Even though I got to wrestle Booker, I'd rather not wrestle Booker than do what I had to do with Sharmell".

As to why the storyline went in the bizarre direction it did, Angle offered that "Vince that this thing that you know, for some reason, wanted me to be a pervert", adding he believed WWE's Executive Chairman asked him to do it as he had dated African-American women in the past.

Kurt did note that he felt Sharmell was good for Booker's act, but that their feud didn't require her involvement.

He also revealed that a third match between him and Booker was meant to happen, but that the referee botched the finish of the second match, leading to the programme ending prematurely (much to his delight).
