Report: Santana Injury Update

Injury update on AEW’s Santana

It’s been almost 12 months since Santana suffered an ACL injury during AEW Blood & Guts II, with the former Inner Circle member attaining the injury during the five-on-five double ring cage match on June 29 2022.

However, the former Proud & Powerful star could be set to return to an All Elite Wrestling ring soon, with a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggesting the potential return is on the cards.

It is as yet to be seen when, where, and if Santana performs in an AEW ring, with reports earlier this year suggesting that Santana could be eyeing up an exit from the company upon the expiration of his deal. Santana’s deal is meant to be up in September 2023, but AEW could add time on due to the length of his injury and subsequent rehabilitation.

Meltzer has speculated if there is a clear place for Santana should he return, with Santana and long-term tag partner Ortiz said to have fallen out prior to the injury. Ortiz has been used sparingly over the past 12 month, but it remains to be seen if the long-alluded roster split for AEW Collision could unearth some space for either man.
