Kyle O'Reilly says his melee with Adam Cole at the conclusion of Wednesday's NXT has added two to three weeks to his recovery time.

Prior to Wednesday, O'Reilly had not been seen on NXT television since a brutal assault by Cole on the February 17 edition, in which the former leader of the Undisputed Era attacked his former teammate and delivered a devastating Brainbuster onto the steep steps.

The neck injuries sustained by O'Reilly would reportedly rule him out for six weeks, but the former NXT Tag Team Champion returned on Wednesday to distract his former friend in the NXT Championship match with Finn Balor, before attacking him in the aftermath.

O'Reilly has taken to social media to now reveal that, as a result of his actions, he has re-aggravated his neck injury, and has been informed he required another two to three weeks on the side-lines to recover.

However, O'Reilly added that he has got Cole firmly in his sights.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "I may have not been “medically cleared” and perhaps I “snuck into the building” but I’ll be damned if that didn’t feel “f’n great”. I’m willing to accept responsibility for my actions... something Adam Cole will never do.

"Now I’m being told another 2-3 weeks added to my recovery time for re-aggravating my neck last night. How many weeks is that now? Weeks won’t keep me away from beating the sh*t out of that SOB."
