LA Knight Appears As Manager In WWE SmackDown Dark Match

Knight's role going forward?

NXT star LA Knight appeared in a dark match before Friday's edition of SmackDown in a managerial role.

While wearing a suit, Knight cut a promo announcing the founding of Knight Model Management, and introduced former Retribution member Mace as his first client. Mace went on to defeat Erik of The Viking Raiders with a leg lariat.

For Mace, it was his first match in five months, last competing in a battle royal on the November 26 SmackDown.

Knight (formerly Eli Drake in Impact Wrestling) signed with WWE in February of last year. He previously wrestled in NXT in 2013-14, under the name Slate Randall.

During his time in NXT, Knight held the Million Dollar championship. His last match on the brand was a loss to Gunther at Stand and Deliver.

In regards to the main roster, Knight appeared on the January 24 Raw in a backstage segment with Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. He also defeated Cedric Alexander in a match taped for Main Event that week.

Other recent call-ups to the main roster include Marcel Barthel (Ludwig Kaiser), Raquel Gonzalez (Raquel Rodriguez), and Tommaso Ciampa.
