Latest On El Hijo Del Vikingo Following Injury

El Hijo Del Vikingo might not need surgery

One of Mexico's top talents looks set for a stint on the shelf after El Hijo del Vikingo sustained a torn meniscus over the weekend wrestling for AULL. Vikingo suffered the injury on February 17 as he teamed with Psycho Clown and Wotan against Demonio Infernal, Fresero Jr., and Trauma I.

Vikingo was already dealing with knee issues, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, and he is likely going to need surgery at some point. That isn't necessarily now, though, as Meltzer noted in his Daily Update that Vikingo might not require surgery to repair the torn meniscus. If the AAA Mega Champion doesn't need to go under the knife, he will still be on the shelf while rehabbing the injury.

Another high-profile case of a wrestler with a torn meniscus is Seth Rollins, who has continued appearing on WWE TV while rehabbing his torn meniscus and MCL. The World Heavyweight Champion is expected to be wrestling again before WrestleMania 40 in April.

Vikingo has established himself as one of AAA's top stars in recent years and he re-signed with the promotion in January. The working relationship between AAA and AEW has seen Vikingo have several matches across All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor programming since the start of 2023.
