El Hijo Del Vikingo Extends AAA Contract

El Hijo del Vikingo will be staying with AAA

With the amount that El Hijo del Vikingo has been competing stateside over the last year or so, there was likely some belief that sooner rather than later he would land with a US promotion full-time. For instance, since 2023, Vikingo has competed 16 times on AEW programming, 14 in Ring Of Honor, and twice in TNA Wrestling since the rebranding from the company at the start of 2024. However, he has extended his stay with AAA.

Vikingo is the current AAA Mega Champion, representing the brand across several promotions in the US, but despite becoming pretty much a semi-regular with the likes of AEW, he won’t be pledging his full allegiance to Tony Khan at this time. Per Dave Metlzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vikingo has extended his contract in AAA, though the timeframe on that hasn’t been confirmed.

It was noted by Meltzer that the expectation would have initially been that Vikingo would work AAA less, but it was stated that for “personal and professional reasons he wanted to stay with AAA as champion while continuing to work for AEW, TNA, and in Japan.”
