Latest On Kenny Omega's AEW Absence

Kenny Omega has been out of action since December 2023 when he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. The Best Bout Machine noted earlier this month that he recently had to undergo "emergency treatment" in his fight against the illness. 

There is no timetable on when Omega will return and AEW President Tony Khan noted to ComicBook Nation that he is optimistic the former AEW World Champion will be back in the promotion at some point. 

"We miss Kenny Omega very much. Hopefully he will be back with us soon and certainly I think the fans will be clamouring for his return and there will be a massive ovation if and when Kenny Omega does come back to AEW. I don't want to put pressure on it, he was really in a bad way and I don't want to put a timetable or try to rush him back. But I'm optimistic we'll see Kenny Omega again and certainly, it's something for all the fans to look forward to. I think everybody's going to go crazy when Kenny does come back, which I think we're all very optimistic about," Khan said.

Dave Meltzer has also reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter there has yet to be a decision made on whether or not Omega will undergo surgery for diverticulitis. If Omega goes under the knife, he will need a couple of months to recuperate before an in-ring return is possible.
