He was 87-years-old

Legendary belt maker Reggie Parks has sadly passed away at the age of 87.

The news was announced on Parks' Facebook page with the following statement:

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear friend and mentor, 'The King of Belts' Reggie Parks.

"Reggie passed peacefully this morning in Tucson, AZ after a short but valiant battle with COVID-19. More information will be made available shortly.

"Family and friends ask that you respect their privacy and allow them to grieve at this time."

A resident of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Parks started out in the industry in Stampede Wrestling with Stu Hart after the promoter spotted him in a boxing club. Parks would wrestle for several decades from the 1950s until his final match in 1986.

Parks is famous for his iconic championship belt designs, including the 1986-1998 WWF Intercontinental Championship, the 1990s  WWF Tag Team Title, and the winged eagle WWF Championship that was used by the company from 1988 until 1998 and held by the likes of Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Randy Savage.

Everyone at Cultaholic sends their condolences to Parks' family and friends.
