WWE WrestleMania 41 showcased this year's inductees into the WWE Hall of Fame, as is tradition. However, Lex Luger was notable by his absence from the stage.
Whilst Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Michelle McCool, Triple H, Typhoon, and the family of the late Earthquake took their time in the spotlight, Luger was not present nor mentioned, despite making his acceptance speech the night prior.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Total Package’ revealed he was not feeling well enough to make a second appearance:
“The next day, on Saturday, I could hardly get out of bed,” Luger said. “So I just called the guys and they were so cool about it and said, ‘Look, we’d love to have you down there. Let’s see how you feel later today.’ But it was obvious by late afternoon that time that I wasn’t going to be able to get out there.”
Luger - who uses a wheelchair - suffered a fall at the airport ahead of his HOF induction, and with the HOF ceremony itself going late into the night, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion was wiped out from making such a high-profile appearance. Luger did make his scheduled appearance at WrestleCon on Saturday.
