Lin Manuel Miranda wants to be Bad Bunny
Nov 10, 2024
The last few years have seen an impressive surge in the quality of celebrity performers making successful crossovers into WWE, with the likes of Logan Paul, Pat McAfee, and Johnny Knoxville having memorable matches and notable runs (with Paul even having a reign as United States Champion). Music sensation Bad Bunny is someone who has impressed in a major way, shining in his WrestleMania debut and once again in a thrilling match in Puerto Rico against Damian Priest at the Backlash 2023 event.
Fellow Puerto Rican celebrity, Lin Manuel Miranda (the man behind Broadway musicals In The Heights and Hamilton, in addition to soundtracks of popular movies such as Encanto and Moana), has revealed that he actually has some envy towards Bad Bunny. During his appearance in the crowd on recent SmackDown episodes in Brooklyn, New York, Miranda spoke on WWE Mic’d Up about Bunny’s success in WWE.
“When Bad Bunny got into [wrestling], and I was like, I’m Puerto Rican so I love Bad Bunny like every Puerto Rican, and Puerto Ricans f*cking love wrestling. Then when he was good at it…I’ve had a very blessed life, I was like, ‘Is this envy? Is this what envy feels like?’ [Laughs] I don’t feel it very much. But I’m jealous of Bad Bunny.”
Bunny hasn't wrestled since Backlash 2023. Damian Priest revealed within the last year that during Bunny's entrance, he nearly broke character due to sheer awe.
