SANADA vs. Hiromu Takahashi & More set for NJPW Wrestling Dontaku

SANADA's first defence of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship is official.

The former LIJ member reached the top of NJPW at Sakura Genesis on Saturday, April 8, defeating Kazuchika Okada to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Title for the first time, seven years on from his New Japan debut. Hiromu Takahashi interrupted his former LIJ stablemate following the match and challenged SANADA to a future title match, a challenge which SANADA accepted.

NJPW have since announced that SANADA vs. Hiromu Takahashi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title will take place at Wrestling Dontaku on Wednesday, May 3 from the Fukuoka International Center. Before the match, Hiromu will put his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title on the line against Yoshinobu Kanemaru on Thursday, April 27. 

Other matches set for Wrestling Dontaku include Tama Tonga vs. David Finlay for the NEVER Openweight Championship, Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Jeff Cobb for the NJPW World Television Title, KENTA vs. Hikuleo, and Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado & Ren Narita vs. Kazuchika Okada & two partners for the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships.
