Major Title Change On WWE NXT

New champion crowned on WWE NXT

A major title change headlined the September 12 edition of NXT from the WWE Performance Center.

Tiffany Stratton defended the NXT Women's Championship against Becky Lynch in the main event of NXT and the champion looked set to retain down the stretch as she went for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Lynch managed to avoid the move, though, and she followed up with the Manhandle Slam to pick up the pinfall victory.

Stratton's loss ends her reign as NXT Women's Champion after 107 days. She won the vacant belt back on May 28 at NXT Battleground, defeating Lyra Valkyria in a tournament final.

The match between Stratton and Lynch came about after weeks of build ever since Stratton mistakenly called Lynch a former NXT Women's Champion. Lynch quickly responded on Twitter which led to Stratton first appearing in the crowd on Monday Night Raw before the NXT Women's Champion then interrupted a promo from Lynch at Payback. Following the pay-per-view, Lynch appeared on NXT and the title match was made official for September 12.
