Major Update On AEW Plans For MJF's Return

AEW plans for MJF's return revealed

MJF could soon be back on All Elite Wrestling TV.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been out of action since he dropped the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at December's Worlds End pay-per-view, with the final image of MJF being him laid out on the canvas after Adam Cole revealed himself as The Devil and formed the Undisputed Kingdom. MJF was dealing with a multitude of injuries in the final months of 2023 and reports claimed in April that Friedman has since undergone shoulder surgery

Fightful Select did not confirm if MJF underwent surgery but they did report that several sources within All Elite Wrestling believe the former AEW World Champion will be back on TV "sooner than later." Most expect him to be back on TV by the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30, if not sooner. MJF and AEW have held talks about his return, including discussions on how he will return and possible changes to his presentation.

MJF is no longer on the AEW roster page, having been removed at the end of 2023 to play into the bidding war of 2024 storyline. In reality, MJF signed a contract extension with AEW at some point after he no-showed the Double or Nothing 2022 fan fest. MJF is reportedly one of AEW's top earners.

AEW's plans for MJF upon his return are unknown, although the expectation would be that he goes after Adam Cole and the Undisputed Kingdom.
