Major Update On Kyle O'Reilly's AEW Status

An update on Kyle O’Reilly’s AEW status

Kyle O’Reilly has been on the injured list for 18 months, with the former ROH World Champion last competing on the June 8, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite.

O’Reilly underwent neck fusion surgery in late 2022, and updates from Summer 2023 suggested that KOR was not near an in-ring return. However, a new report from Fightful Select suggests that O’Reilly could be set to make his return in the not-too-distant future, with O’Reilly having been backstage at recent AEW shows.

Whilst there is still no timetable for O’Reilly to make his official return, this latest update is positive news. O’Reilly himself has been sharing rehab updates on social media, recently undergoing weight training to help strengthen his neck.

Prior to his injury, O’Reilly was in the midst of an impressive singles run in AEW, having defeated Darby Allin at Double or Nothing 2022 mere days before suffering injury. O’Reilly was also a semi-finalist in the 2022 Owen Hart Cup Tournament, losing to Samoa Joe in the semis.
