Marina Shafir Debuts At AEW Dark Tapings

Another former NXT performer appears for AEW

Former NXT talent Marina Shafir debuted for All Elite Wrestling on Friday at the company's Dark tapings in Orlando. In her debut match with the organization, Shafir lost to Kris Statlander.

Shafir was released from WWE in June, one month after friend and frequent tag team partner Jessamyn Duke was let go. Her final match with the company took place in January, when she teamed with Zoey Stark in a loss to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart in the Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Her last NXT match was a battle royal in September 2020 that was won by Candice LeRae.

One of the Four Horsewomen of MMA with Duke, Ronda Rousey, and Shayna Baszler, Shafir signed with WWE in 2018, and thereafter reported to the Performance Center. In NXT, Shafir scarcely wrestled on television, but frequently ran interference for Baszler alongside Duke.

Since leaving WWE, Shafir has made several indie appearances. She defeated Masha Slamovich at Josh Barnett's Bloodsport in October, and has wrestled three matches for Championship Wrestling From Atlanta, winning each.
