Mark Briscoe & Jay Lethal To Honour Jay Briscoe With Match On AEW Dynamite

Mark Briscoe to debut on AEW vs. Jay Lethal in honour of Jay Briscoe

Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal will celebrate the life and legacy of Jay Briscoe on the January 25 edition of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan has announced. The AEW President noted the match was requested by both men and it will take place on what would have been Jay's 39th birthday.

The announcement from Khan comes only hours after a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer earlier today claimed that Mark Briscoe was still banned by Warner Bros. Discovery from appearing on AEW TV. In an update, Meltzer stated that Warner Bros. Discovery have changed their policy and Mark is allowed to appear on AEW programming moving forward.

"Yep, AEW just confirmed WBD changed its policy on Mark Briscoe and he's allowed to appear going forward," Meltzer tweeted.

The Briscoes were banned by the media conglomerate from appearing on AEW TV due to past homophobic tweets from Jay Briscoe in 2013. Jay apologised for his comments on multiple occasions following the tweets, including last year, and many from the LGBTQ+ community celebrated his life last week when it was revealed that he had passed away.

Jay Briscoe passed away on January 17 after being involved in a head-on car accident.
