Mark Briscoe Qualifies For AEW TNT Championship Ladder Match

Mark Briscoe books spot in AEW TNT Championship ladder match

Mark Briscoe is going to cross through the Forbidden Door on June 30, with the Ring of Honor World Champion booking a spot in the multi-man ladder match for the vacant TNT Championship on the AEW x NJPW crossover pay per view.

Briscoe earned his spot with a singles victory over Brian Cage on the June 5 edition of AEW Dynamite, and will join Konosuke Takeshita and several others in battling for the TNT Championship. Takeshita was ringside for Briscoe’s victory, whilst The Elite’s Jack Perry watched on from backstage, cutting a promo on ‘The Sussex County Chicken’ by saying no-one is willing to sacrifice as much for AEW as Perry is.

Perry was initially awarded the TNT Championship by AEW EVPs The Young Bucks after Adam Copeland vacated the belt due to a leg break suffered at Double or Nothing. Interim EVP Christopher Daniels vetoed the title switch, instead revealing the ladder match stipulation and qualifying tournament ahead of Forbidden Door.

Updated card, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, June 30 2024:

  • Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Will Ospreay - AEW World Championship
  • Toni Storm (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa - AEW Women’s World Championship
  • Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Stephanie Vaquer (c) - AEW TBS Championship & NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship
  • Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mark Briscoe vs. TBD - Ladder match for the vacant TNT Championship
