Former WWE developmental talent Masyn Holiday - real name Darci Khan - has revealed she quit the company as becoming a pro wrestler simply wasn't for her.
"I was very, very, very, very, very, extremely unhappy at that job. My depression and anxiety at an all-time high. I would look at myself in the mirror and I didn't even know who I was anymore. It was that bad. I cried for months straight, and what kept me there is me telling myself, 'You don't know what you're gonna do next. What if you leave the job and you're still depressed and you're still miserable?' Those things kept me where I wasn't supposed to be for way too long. Literally the day that I left, it felt like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders," Khan stated on Instagram.
"I'm not saying WWE is bad. Not bashing nobody in WWE, love the people there. It's just for me and my purpose on this Earth, it just was not aligning at all. The things that I desire in life and the places WWE would take me, just they weren't in line."
Khan noted that she quit the company after she entered the WWE Performance Center for a training session and finally admitted that pro wrestling wasn't for her after the coach realised she was upset.
"The day I quit, I did not plan to quit. It was all God. Before I walk in the building, I pray to God. I wrote in my journal at 1:20 pm, I said, 'God, I need you to guide me through this practice.' I was on the verge of tears the whole day. I knew I didn't have the strength to get through this practice by myself because I just didn't want to be there. I did not want to wrestle anymore. It was an unbearable weight that I couldn't hold myself, so I prayed to God, 'God, just give me strength to make it through this practice.' Tomorrow will be a better day," Khan continued.
"I walk into practice and my coach comes up to me and she says, 'What’s wrong Masyn?' It all just came out. At that moment, I was like, 'You know what? Yeah, I wanna talk about it. I don't want to wrestle anymore.' She was like, 'Honestly, I could see it on your face every day. When you show up, it looks like you have to be here, not that you want to be here. In this business you have to love it, you have to want it, it has to be in your heart.' I've always known it wasn't in my heart. I knew that I could potentially be good, it could potentially take me places, and I knew how grateful I was to be in that position. I have that very near and dear to my heart, but I knew that it wasn't my purpose in life calling to be the biggest WWE Superstar."
Following her WWE exit, Darci Khan is going to focus on teaching, and she has already launched a YouTube channel teaching people how she paints.
Darci Khan signed with WWE after being a part of the company's NIL programme and she made her in-ring debut as Masyn Holiday at the February 2025 tapings of WWE EVOLVE. Holiday was a part of ROAR Records with Nikkita Lyons and Layla Diggs, wrestling across EVOLVE and WWE LFG before she quit the company.
