Matt Cardona Has Dispute Over Pay With 1PW
Cardona threatened to call off 1PW bout with Will Ospreay unless he got pre-match payment
Self-proclaimed 'King of the Indies' Matt Cardona has run into an issue with UK-based independent promotion 1 Pro Wrestling.
Taking to Twitter, Cardona informed his followers that a match between himself and Will Ospreay (that was being advertised for 1PW's Devil's Due show on June 10 in Lincoln) would not happen unless he received his pre-match payment.
In a now-deleted tweet, Cardona wrote: "Unless I get my payment that I was promised before this match was advertised today, this match isn't happening. Sorry fans".
Returning to the platform later, Cardona revealed he was indeed paid by the promotion, adding:
"Update…I got my money from @1ProWrestling. It's a shame I had to make a public tweet to get it, but it is what it is. I can't wait to make my return to the UK! I'm really looking forward to Cardona vs. @WillOspreay! It's going to be an instant classic! And @stephdelander will now be there too!".
Cardona will take on Ospreay for the 1PW World Championship in the show's main event.
1PW Devil's Due will also feature Lance Archer, James Storm, Trey Miguel and others.
