Matt Cardona Sidelined With Torn Pec

One of the top stars in independent wrestling is out of action.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful first reported that Matt Cardona informed several promoters that he has sustained a torn pectoral muscle and requires surgery. Germany's wXw promotion have since announced that Cardona will miss their Drive of Champions event on June 1 due to the injury.

"Matt Cardona informed us yesterday that he has to take a break due to a torn pectoral muscle and will therefore not be present at wXw Drive of Champions on June 1st. We ask for a little patience until we have discussed the next steps with all parties involved. We wish @TheMattCardona a speedy recovery! #GetWellSoon," wXw tweeted.

Matt Cardona has not wrestled since he defeated Blue Pain at Joey Janela's Spring Break 8 over WrestleMania 40 weekend. The former IMPACT Digital Media Champion recently returned to TNA Wrestling alongside Steph De Lander. Whether Cardona will still be in De Lander's corner for her Knockouts World Title match at Rebellion has not been confirmed.

Cardona also recently returned to All Elite Wrestling, unsuccessfully challenging former mentor Adam Copeland for the TNT Championship on the March 30 episode of Collision.
