Matt Hardy Reveals Scrapped Plans For Him To Defeat Adam Cole For The ROH World TV Title

Matt Hardy was once scheduled to beat ROH World TV Champion Adam Cole

Matt Hardy has held gold almost everywhere he has wrestled, with Hardy having held titles in WWE, ECW, TNA/IMPACT, and ROH amongst others.

When Matt made his Ring of Honor return in 2012 he was meant to get his hands on gold in his first match back in the company, with Hardy revealing on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast that he was set to become a champion at Final Battle 2012:

"Jim [Cornette]'s initial idea was for me to come in and beat [Adam Cole] for the title, as opposed to it being a non-title match, as it was. Which I thought was interesting,” said Hardy.

Hardy reveals that plans were ultimately scrapped by then head of ROH creative Delirious, with Hardy adding that, “I don't think they were a fan of Cornette's creative."

Whilst Hardy did beat Cole at Final Battle it was a non-title match, and Hardy would have to wait until March 2017 to taste ROH gold, winning the ROH World Tag Team Championships with brother Jeff at Manhattan Mayhem.
