Matt Hardy Teases The Return Of Broken Matt In AEW

Could we see Broken Matt reappear in AEW?

AEW star Matt Hardy has teased the prospect of his 'Broken' character making a return.

During a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the 30-year veteran discussed the possibility of Broken Matt re-emerging, noting that his current situation with The Firm in AEW may lead to it happening:

"I think there's a chance it's not out of the realm of possibility. It could definitely happen, we'll see. It's going to be really interesting to see how this scenario, with myself in The Firm, ends up playing out. Let it play out. Who knows, this might lead to me being broken," said Hardy.

Matt debuted in AEW in March of 2020 with an iteration of his Broken character, though it was soon phased out.

During the podcast, Hardy further stressed how reinvention is key to longevity in the business, stating:

"I mean, you always gotta evolve. You always gotta freshen up. I mean, you just can't give — you can't do reruns. Much like how professional wrestling is 52 weeks a year, new, first-content. We don't do reruns in wrestling, you always have to move the story forward. You always have to evolve and the same thing goes when you revisit a different character".

Matt had looked set to have another run alongside his brother this year, prior to Jeff's DUI arrest in June.
