Matt Riddle Reveals The BroserWeights Weren't Originally Booked To Win The WWE Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Everything just aligned perfectly...

Back in January, WWE held the fifth Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as The Forgotten Sons, The Time Splitters, The Undisputed ERA, and The BroserWeights from NXT faced off against Imperium, Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews, Grizzled Young Veterans, and Gallus from NXT UK. The four-week tournament ultimately ended in victory for Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne as they vanquished Grizzled Young Veterans to win the Dusty Cup.

The newly formed tag team have achieved even more success together as they won the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT TakeOver: Portland, and have since seemingly created a faction with Timothy Thatcher as the prospective third stallion.

During a recent interview with Gary Cassidy at Sportskeeda, Riddle was asked if the trio will stay together after The Bruiserweight is able to travel to the United States. The King Of Bros said he hopes so and revealed he and Stallion Pete weren't originally booked to win the Dusty Cup.

Riddle said: "Well, I would hope it would be a trio, you know. The connection between me and Pete, you know, was marvellous and, you know, I thought our chemistry was good and we work in the ring extremely well. You know, originally, we weren't picked to win the tournament and we definitely weren't supposed to win the titles, but by the time situations came to be, we were the ones with the belts, we were the ones with the cup.

"And then with Tim, I think you saw on the Newly-Bros Show, we are pretty compatible, and we've known each other... You know, on the indies we met and we wrestled, we worked together, so me and Tim have a lot of chemistry too, and I know Tim's character, he knows my character, and just like me and Pete, we can play off each other extremely well. Hopefully, we get to keep it going, you know what I'm saying? But you never know, you know. It's in the universe now, it's in destiny's hands."
