With news that AEW President Tony Khan has bought Ring of Honor, it has caused a wave of optimism to spread amongst wrestling fans of a certain vintage.
During its glory years in the mid-2000s, Ring of Honor was one of the greatest wrestling products on the planet, with a unique look and die-hard audience, and AEW’s Matt Sydal has noted on Twitter how he wants a return to the glory years:
“Let’s bring back that old school ROH logo.”
For many fans, the classic logo represents the quality that ROH was known for, alongside the promotion’s use of red/black ring mats, and the metal panels that adorned the crowd barriers that were battered like drums whenever the in-ring action was good.
Sydal is no stranger to Ring of Honor, wrestling for the promotion between 2004-2007, and from 2014-2017. Sydal also wrestled a handful of matches for ROH in 2020, wrestling in the Ring of Honor PURE Title Tournament.
