Mercedes Martinez To Challenge For IMPACT Knockouts Title In October

Martinez was released by WWE on August 6

Former WWE NXT star Mercedes Martinez has revealed her first booked post-WWE appearance, taking on IMPACT Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo in a title match at New Jersey’s WrestlePro on October 16.

Martinez was released from WWE on August 6, and so far this is the first post-Fed booking she has announced, with the news broken on Twitter by WrestlePro’s Kevin Matthews.

This will be the first time Martinez and Purrazzo have faced off in singles competition since August 2018, where Martinez got the win at a RISE Wrestling event. This will also be the first time Martinez has competed for the IMPACT Knockouts Title, having only appeared once for TNA back in 2003.

Purrazzo hasn’t featured for WrestlePro since 2016, last appearing in a singles win over Katarina Leigh (fka Winter/Katie Lea Burchill).

Alongside Martinez, fellow former WWE superstars Tony Nese and Fandango (going by ‘Dirty Dango’) will also be appearing at the event, taking on Bobby Wayward and Brian Myers respectively.
