Current Intercontinental Champion The Miz has signed a new contract with WWE which should see him stay with the company until at least 2022, according to

.

Miz has long been regarded as one of WWE's top company guys, starring in several WWE Studios movies, promoting the company around the world, and becoming a reliable mainstay of their roster over the course of nearly 15 years.

Miz joined WWE in 2004 as a contestant on the fourth season of Tough Enough. Despite not winning the show, he was offered a developmental contract, and spent the next two years in developmental territories Deep South Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling.

His main roster debut came in 2006, and he won his first match against Tatanka on an episode of SmackDown. Since then, Miz has slowly become one of the most consistent, recognisable members of WWE's roster - racking up considerable championship success in the process.

He is currently in his eighth reign as Intercontinental Champion, and has also held the WWE Championship, United States Championship, and both the World and WWE Tag Team Championship.

The peak of Miz's career was perhaps his headline spot at WrestleMania 27, where he defeated John Cena to retain the WWE Championship (albeit with a considerable assist from The Rock, who interfered to start a feud with Cena).

These days, Miz is a member of the Raw brand, and one of the biggest heels in the company. Although no longer a consistent main eventer, he is a constant presence in the upper-midcard.

In 2014, Miz married longterm girlfriend and fellow WWE Superstar Maryse.

He currently has no match planned for WrestleMania 34, but is expected to be on the card - although he may be forced to miss the show, as the due date of his first child is around that time.
