MJF Explains Why He Wants To Be A Free Agent In 2024

MJF still plans on enacting the great bidding war of 2024

The great bidding war of 2024 is still 18 months away when Maxwell Jacob Friedman's contract with All Elite Wrestling expires. Friedman recently signed a new deal with AEW for an "insane amount of money" without penning a contract extension and he is now believed to be earning more than $1 million per year.

While he has been pushed as a top star in AEW, MJF still wants to test free agency and he revealed why on KFC Radio

"I do want to be a free agent in 2024. So again, I'm going to wait until January 1st, 2024 because I am an intelligent businessman. I do foresee myself winning that AEW World Title and what happens if my contract goes up and I have that championship? If I'm Tony Khan, I'm probably going to have to pay this guy a lot of money," Friedman said.

"I concern myself where the money is at. I'll go to a new company, with a new founder that no one has ever heard of if they're willing to pay me the most amount of money. I do genuinely think that I'm a prodigy, and I say that humbly. There's probably no one in the wrestling world that knows more or has a better IQ than me."

Friedman has the opportunity to become AEW World Champion, having won the Casino Ladder Match at All Out when he returned from hiatus. When he will cash in the casino chip remains to be seen, but speculation has suggested Friedman will face Jon Moxley for the gold at Full Gear.
