More Details About Cody Rhodes' WWE Return

Further details regarding Cody Rhodes' WWE return have emerged.

Further details of Cody Rhodes' WWE return have been reported by Fightful Select. Cody made his return on night one of WrestleMania 38 as Seth Rollins' mystery opponent, defeating the former Shield member in a well-received match. Fightful state:

"There were many people in the company that still didn't know for sure that Rhodes was coming in until he was actually there. Rhodes was hidden all day and didn't get to greet many people until after the match with Seth Rollins. There were people that Rhodes even [knows] that approached him and asked why he didn't spill the beans to them.

"On Monday, the Cody Rhodes segment was scripted to go on last, even appearing internally as such until about a little after 7 PM EST. We weren't told a reason the Cody and Reigns segments were flipped."

Rhodes did indeed cut a promo on the Raw after WrestleMania, stating his intention to win the WWE Championship (or perhaps, given its current iteration, the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship) in tribute to his father.

It remains to be seen what Cody's next step will be in WWE, although after Raw he wrestled Kevin Owens in a post-show dark segment. It is unknown whether this indicates a feud between the pair.

The current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is Roman Reigns, having unified the promotion's top titles by defeating WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 38's second night.
