More Details About Toni Storm Quitting WWE Reportedly Emerge

Storm's departure from WWE was confirmed on Wednesday

Toni Storm's departure from WWE caught the wrestling world completely by surprise when news broke that she had departed the company.

Reports from Fightful Select and PWInsider claimed that Storm had requested her release from the promotion just a day after she competed in a Triple Threat Match for the SmackDown Women's Title at a Live Event, and following her Championship match with Charlotte Flair on last Friday's SmackDown.

It has been suggested that WWE were 'blindsided' by Storm's request to leave the company but, according to Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, Storm's decision to depart WWE was much blunter than initially reported.

Sources within WWE, per Bodyslam.net, say that Storm did not request her release but actually 'just up and quit'. It is noted she worked the Triple Threat Match at the Live Event before paying for her own flight to take herself home.

It is noted that WWE have decided to handle the situation as if Storm had simply requested her release and the promotion had agreed to grant it, given how many talent have been let go or allowed to leave in 2021.

Storm's decision to quit WWE and leave during the Live Event loop has caught talent and officials backstage completely by surprise, with it also being noted that she didn't tell anyone about her plans to walk away.
