WWE reportedly felt 'very strongly' about retaining the services of Kevin Owens, amid reports the Prize-fighter has signed a new deal with the promotion.

It has previously been reported that Owens' deal with WWE was due to expire in January 2022 but Fightful has since revealed that the former Universal Champion has now put pen-to-paper on a new, multi-year contract with the company after they made him 'an excellent offer' to stay.

Such was the offer to Owens that people within All Elite Wrestling believed the promotion couldn't realistically match what WWE was willing to pay, and WrestleVotes is reporting that there was a significant push in WWE to keep the 37-year-old.

It is noted that WWE have wanted to secure Owens to a new deal for quite a while and felt particularly strongly about tying one of their most versatile performers.

It is now widely anticipated that Owens will remain an active figure in WWE's main event scene, and he is set to compete for the WWE Championship in a Fatal-4-Way Match at WWE Day 1.
