More People Watched NXT TakeOver: WarGames II Than Survivor Series 2018 On WWE Network

Could Becky Lynch's untimely injury have played a part?

Survivor Series has been one of WWE's fabled Big Four-cum-Big Five pay-per-views for over 30 years at this point, but that didn't stop what some people may still - in their rather outdated opinion, it must be said - consider to be the company's developmental brand to outshine it in the ratings.

That's because WWE's own ratings table for the most popular shows on the Network for last week show TakeOver ranking higher than Survivor Series - something few would have predicted heading into the event.

More interestingly, it's been revealed that TakeOver: WarGames II outdrew Monday night Raw inside the Staples Center, even though the NXT show had less seats inside the arena because of the second WarGames ring.

Of course, WarGames II - the second best TakeOver ever in this writer's humble opinion - was a stellar card pretty much from top to bottom, and was helped greatly by a much more favourable runtime of two-and-a-half-hours. Survivor Series, as with much of the main roster product we see today, was up against it from the getgo due to a mammoth runtime of over three-and-a-half hours. I guess it also must be noted that many may have been turned off from watching Survivor Series due to the untimely injury suffered by Becky Lynch.

Here is the current list of most popular shows on the WWE Network:

1. NXT Takeover: WarGames II
2. WWE Survivor Series 2018
3. NXT Takeover: WarGames II Preshow
4. WWE Chronicle: Dean Ambrose
5. WWE Survivor Series 2017
6. WWE Survivor Series 2018 Kickoff
7. WWE Crown Jewel 2018
8. NXT TakeoverL WarGames II (Spanish feed)
9. WWE Ride Along: The EC Expressway
10. WWE 365: AJ Styles
