Multiple Talents Become Free Agents To Start 2024

Several noteworthy names in wrestling have become free agents in the new year.

In a recent report, Fightful Select have given an update on various noteworthy names in wrestling that have become free agents in 2024.

Perhaps the biggest name among the bunch is the contract expiration of AEW star Andrade El Idolo, formerly known as Andrade Cien Almas in WWE. However, Andrade is not expected to be a free agent for long, and it has already been widely reported that he is expected to return to WWE, the company he left in 2021.

Another departing AEW name is QT Marshall, who performed many roles within the company in-ring and behind the scenes. These varied roles are said to be a key factor in his decision to leave, with Fightful stating: "He departed the company after being adamant that he wanted to wrestle as opposed to a front office or training-only gig."

Shawn Spears is another AEW name to see their contract expire. Initially brought into the company to feud with Cody Rhodes, Spears became a member of the Pinnacle stable before settling into more of an enhancement role.

IMPACT Wrestling (soon to return to their original name of TNA) have seen the departure of former Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo. The Fightful report has good things to say about both the manner of her departure and future prospects, explaining: "She had been one of the most consistently pushed talent in IMPACT, and we’re told things were amicable there. She is expected to sign somewhere imminently."

Other top names to recently become free agents include Alex Hammerstone, most known for his time in MLW, and Kamille who (until recently) was a top name in the NWA women's division.
