Oct 3, 2024
We are less than 10 days away from the second annual AEW WrestleDream, and several matches have been confirmed for the PPV event in Tacoma, Washington on October 12.
The Dynamite Fifth Anniversary show on October 2 saw Will Ospreay and Ricochet clash in an AEW ring for the first time, but after the two went to the limits in their AEW International Championship clash they were jumped by Konosuke Takeshita, with Takeshita holding up Ospreay’s title as a declaration of intent. AEW President Tony Khan later made a three-way for the title official at WrestleDream; Ospreay vs. Ricochet vs. Takeshita.
In the TNT Title scene, champion Jack Perry arrived backstage during Dynamite to talk to Renee Paquette when he was confronted by Katsuyori Shibata. Shibata challenged ‘The Scapegoat’ to a title match at WrestleDream, with Perry accepting… after he had jumped ‘The Wrestler’ and smashed his head into the hood of his Scapegoat van.
Ring of Honor World Champion Mark Briscoe will also be in action in tacoma, with the ‘Sussex County Chicken’ putting the belt on the line against former champion Chris Jericho. Briscoe and Jericho have clashed multiple times in recent weeks, with Jericho stating during his ‘Learning Tree’ segment on Dynamite that he wanted the ROH Championship again. Briscoe accepted after Jericho evoked the name of his late brother Jay.
Elsewhere, Darby Allin laid out an open challenge for WrestleDream, with the Washington native wanting anyone in the locker-room to try and make their name against him.
