Coming out of TNA’s 2026 Lockdown PLE, not everyone emerged unscathed. It was revealed this week that reigning TNA International Champion Mustafa Ali was injured during his cage match against Jason Hotch, and more has now emerged on the severity of his injury and his status moving forwards. Ali suffered from a punctured lung and fractured ribs during his match with Hotch, leading to speculation that the injury came from one of the several high-risk spots during the clash.

It was noted initially by PWInsider that Mustafa Ali’s injury was legitimate rather than a storyline ailment, with it being noted that he is expected internally to return to action at TNA’s Texas tapings next month.

It was further reported by Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline that the injury was not a result of any big bumps such as when Hotch dove off the top of the cage and through Ali on a table ringside. Alvarez stated that it was a result of a “random bump”;

“Apparently whatever it was that resulted in Ali fracturing his ribs and puncturing his lung, it was NOT the high cross spot off the top of the cage. It was, as is often the case in wrestling, just some random bump in the match.”

It was reported recently that Mustafa Ali received a lot of backstage praise in TNA due to his work over the last several months.
