Mustafa Ali: "No, I Would Not Like To Be In The Rumble. I Would Like My Release."

Ali reiterates his chosen stance

On Royal Rumble day, Mustafa Ali has once more made his stance clear on what he would like for his wrestling career.

Ali simply tweeted Saturday, "no, i would not like to be in rumble. i would like my release."

On January 16, Ali made public that he had asked for his release from WWE. He claimed to have dreams that were bigger than wrestling, and believed his message could not be shared while still with WWE.

Ali has not appeared in a televised capacity for the company since the October 29 SmackDown, nor has he made appearances for WWE in any other capacity since.

Reports have since indicated that WWE has no interest in releasing Ali, who is said to have years left on his contract. In the preceding days, fans have gotten "FreeAli" trending on Twitter.

Ali reportedly got into a heated argument with Vince McMahon that preceded his months-long absence. Fightful Select indicated that there was a character or story pitch from McMahon for "something Mustafa Ali would never have done," though what that is is not publicly known.
