After Aussie Open dominated the tag team division by winning both the IWGP and NJPW STRONG Tag Team Championships in the month of April, disaster struck as an injury to Mark Davis led to the pair being forced into vacating the belts. At NJPW Dominion, new champions were crowned.

The Bishamon duo of Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI emerged victorious in a triple threat match to decide the new winners of the vacant gold, winning back the belts they previously lost to Aussie Open back at Sakura Genesis earlier this year. They outlasted United Empire (Aaron Henare & Great-O-Khan) and House of Torture (EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi) at NJPW Dominion 2023 in a fun three-way battle.

It wasn’t all celebration for the new champions though, who start their third reign as IWGP Tag Team Champions and their first as NJPW STRONG Tag Team Champions, as the pair were attacked after the match by the pair of Alex Coughlin and Gabriel Kidd, who were revealed to be new Bullet Club members.
