New Japan Cup 2021 Results - March 10, 2021: Final Day Of First Round Matches

Did Jay White advance to the second round?

New Japan Pro-Wrestling hosted the final three first-round matches of the New Japan Cup 2021 earlier today at Sandan-ike Park Gymnasium in Fukuchiyama, Japan. David Finlay took on Chase Owens in the first singles match on the show and they were followed by YOSHI-HASHI vs. Yujiro Takahashi and Toa Henare vs. Jay White.

David Finlay ultimately fared better than his tag team partner Juice Robinson in the tournament as he managed to defeat Chase Owens following an 11-minute match. The self-proclaimed Texas Heavyweight Champion dominated the latter stages but he couldn't put Finlay away and the FinJuice man caught him with a Hurricanrana Pin for the 1-2-3.

Finlay will face YOSHI-HASHI in the next round as he managed to defeat Yujiro Takahashi with Karma after 15 minutes.

The show was then main evented by the battle of the Kiwis as Toa Henare faced off against Jay White. Henare put in an impressive performance during the 24-minute contest but he failed to put White away with a Spear and Rock Bottom. This ultimately allowed White to recover and he eventually connected with Blade Runner to pick up the win.

Switchblade now has a date with Hiroshi Tanahashi in the second round.
