New Japan Cup 2021 Results - March 16, 2021: Shingo Takagi Vs. KENTA, EVIL Vs. Toru Yano

Who advanced to the semi-finals?

The quarter-finals of the New Japan Cup 2021 got underway at Korakuen Hall earlier today. EVIL took on Toru Yano in the first quarter-final match and Shingo Takagi went one on one with KENTA in the main event.

While Toru Yano somehow made it to the last eight, his New Japan Cup journey came to an end courtesy of EVIL. The Sublime Master Thief thought he had the match won by count-out down the stretch after he tossed EVIL under the ring. The lights in Korakuen Hall suddenly went out, though, and when they came back on, The King Of Darkness was stood behind Yano and he connected with Everything Is EVIL for the 1-2-3. Dick Togo then emerged from behind the curtain to reveal his interference had come up trumps for the former IWGP Double Champion once again.

Shingo Takagi vs. KENTA followed and both men battered each other for 23 minutes. Takagi ultimately picked up the win after he blocked a Go 2 Sleep attempt in the closing stages and followed up with a Pumping Bomber and Last Of The Dragon.

Shingo had no time to celebrate after the match, though, as Dick Togo Low Blowed him from behind and The Spoiler and EVIL proceeded to beat down the two-time NEVER Openweight Champion to close out the show. Takagi and EVIL will face off in the semi-finals of the New Japan Cup on Saturday, March 20.

To determine the second semi-final, Jay White will take on David Finlay and SANADA will face Will Ospreay on Thursday, March 18.
