New Japan Cup 2021 Results - March 6 & March 7, 2021: Shingo Takagi Vs. Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay Vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan

The tournament continued over the weekend

The New Japan Cup continued over the weekend with five first-round matches. 

The March 6 show at Ota City General Gymnasium was headlined by Shingo Takagi vs. Kazuchika Okada and in a somewhat shock result, The Dragon managed to defeat the five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion in a 24-minute match. Minoru Suzuki also vanquished Tomoaki Honma while KENTA made Juice Robinson submit to Game Over. 

On the March 7 event at Aimesse Yamanashi, The United Empire's Will Ospreay and Hiroyoshi Tenzan continued their long-running feud and faced off in singles action. The Commonwealth Kingpin ultimately advanced in the tournament after connecting with Stormbreaker. He will rekindle his rivalry with Zack Sabre Jr. in the second round after ZSJ outlasted Gabriel Kidd in their own match on the show.
