New KOPW 2022 Provisional Champion Crowned At NJPW Golden Fight Series

A new KOPW 2022 Provisional Champion!

The first King Of Pro-Wrestling match without Toru Yano's involvement took place today as KOPW 2022 Provisional Champion Taichi put the trophy on the line against Shingo Takagi in a 30-Count Rules Match.

To win, a competitor had to get a cumulative count of 30 on their opponent.

Both men fought back and forth throughout the contest and Taichi looked set to retain his grasp on the trophy as he held a 29-24 lead. Shingo managed to fire back, though, and he connected with a Pumping Bomber and a barrage of elbows before he followed up with a Last Of The Dragon for a six-count and the 30-29 win.

With the victory, Takagi captured his first piece of gold in NJPW since he lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship to Kazuchika Okada at the January 4 Wrestle Kingdom 16 show.

Taichi had been the KOPW Provisional Trophy holder since he defeated Toru Yano in a No Rope Ring Out Match at Hyper Battle on April 9.
