New Name Added To AEW Continental Classic Tournament

The Continental Classic has a new entrant

The AEW Continental Classic Tournament was announced last week, beginning following the Full Gear 2023 PPV event and ending at the first ever World’s End PPV in December. Bryan Danielson was revealed to be the first entrant in this round robin style of tournament, and on last night’s AEW Collision, a second participant was revealed.

During a backstage interview, CJ Perry revealed that she’d spoken to Tony Khan and entered her new associate and client Andrade El Idolo into the inaugural Continental Classic field, with the added extra that Andrade would receive a payment bonus if he won the whole thing. Andrade didn’t seem too chuffed with this at first, seemingly unhappy that Perry had gone behind his back, but after Perry whispered something in his ear, he looked happier with the arrangement.

It was also revealed on commentary by Tony Schiavone that all of the matches in the Continental Classic tournament would have interferences strictly banned, ensuring fair competition and cleaner results to the bouts.
