New PROGRESS World Champion To Be Crowned In Super Strong Style 16

The Super Strong Style 16 winner will be PROGRESS World Champion!

PROGRESS Wrestling's Super Strong Style 16 tournament has added stakes following the promotion's announcement that the victor will win the vacant PROGRESS Wrestling World Championship.

The 2022 edition of the tournament will take place from June 3 until June 5 at the Electric Ballroom in London, England, with the likes of Gene Munny, Big Damo, Maggot, Rickey Shane Page, and Warren Banks announced as competitors so far. Also announced for the shows is an 'I Quit' Match between Cara Noir and Spike Trivet.

Jonathan Gresham was previously PROGRESS Wrestling World Champion but he was stripped of the gold at Sunday's Chapter 134 after Lykos Gym attacked Gene Munny during his match with The Octopus. A stipulation meant Gresham would be stripped of the world title if he was disqualified and he lost the belt as a result.

Gresham had been the champion since defeating Cara Noir in a Title vs. Title Match on March 20. The Octopus remains ROH World Champion, having won the gold back at Final Battle 2021 in December.
