McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Real Madrid, and the Kansas City Chiefs are underdogs, based on what WWE President Nick Khan believes an underdog is.
WWE are the top professional wrestling company in the world, a spot which they have held for much of the past 40 years outside of a very brief spell in the late 1990s when WCW was on top. Despite being the industry leader, Nick Khan has claimed on the Bill Simmons podcast that WWE are always the underdog.
"We're always the underdog at WWE. We always feel that people underestimate us, that we're looked down upon, and we like it that way. Bet against us, we prefer that, and allow us to show you what we can do. If you look at the stock price now, it's far in excess of what it was when we all started together five years ago. We're quite proud of that. At the same time, we have to keep re-earning our keep on a daily basis here. We feel like it's a good moment, but we feel like there is a lot of room for growth," Khan said.
Khan also caused a stir after he claimed people could assume that a number of wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling would be jumping ship to WWE when they are able to do so. AEW's Ricochet hit back at Khan, simply saying, "these guys f*cking suck."
Khan has been doing the media rounds ahead of WWE WrestleMania 41, which will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.
